I play bass in a big band, which had it’s first gig recently. And although we had some problems with the stage sound, it was great fun. Here is a photo of the band in action.
Had a gig last night with the new SiFaSol Big Band opening the Benissa fiesta week. Don’t have a shot of the gig itself, this is us setting up. Stage was huge, monitor sound terrible, as usual :-/

There where a lot of small gigs recently, but mostly I forgot to announce them here.
Meanwhile I stopped using my Facebook account, so there will be updates much more frequently here on my personal page.
Nice shot as I played with David Ash (p) and Fernando Fuentes (b) last Friday. But really featuring my mic-stand (Koenig & Mayer of course 
) and my Beta58 microphone. The guitar is my newly acquired AF105 from Ibanez – with some little extras I put on it. Like a new pickguard, new pickup, new controls and so on.
I am going to play in Benissa on the Plaza Central tomorrow with a 5 piece band from the SiFaSol music school. I’ll happen at 9pm where the little fountain is.

There is a new Thai restaurant in Jalón / Xaló: Barrio Fiesta. Owner and chef Edna offers delicious Thai food, my favourite dish I must confess. If you like it spicy like I do, just ask for the hot version, but be warned, it’s really hot!
And form Thursday 21st we will start a new series of live music events there, always beginning around 8pm and going till 23 or even midnight.
I will be there with my guitar and singing, and we will see guests sitting in, let’s see what happens.
(By the way, there is a secret test gig this Thursday, 14th, if you want to come…? But, psssst top secret! )
You find Barrio Fiesta right in the centre of Jalón, only 10m form the central plaza. The green building, you see it already from there.
Parking is best at the medical centre and from there it is approx. 100 meters to walk.

Hay un nuevo restaurante Tailandés en Jalón / Xaló: Barrio Fiesta. Propietaria y chef de cuisine Edna ofrece deliciosos platos Tailandeses, mi plato favorito, debo confesar. Si te gusta lo picante como a mi, acaba de pedir la versión picante, pero se advirtió, es realmente picante!
Y desde el jueves 21a comenzará una nueva serie de eventos musicales en directo, siempre comenzando a las 8 pm y va hasta el 23 o hasta la medianoche.
Estaré allí con mi guitarra y cantando y invito a músicos de juntarse y tocar con migo, vamos a ver qué pasa.
(Por cierto, hay un concierto de prueba en secreto este jueves, 14, si quieres venir … ¿Pero, Psssst secreto )
Encontrar Barrio Fiesta en el centro de Jalón, cerca de la plaza central. El edificio verde, se ve ya partir de ahí.

The spring series of concerts in Sa Piscina ended last Saturday June 11th. Ian Royle was with us on trumpet and Chick Gammidge on drums. And again, like so often this year we had really bad luck with the weather. Fortunately we had decided to play inside the bar.
Exactly when I sang the first lines of Orpheo Negro (Spanish version), where the lyrics say: “The sun, when I call the sun, it will appear!” It started to pour outside, I couldn’t sing on, laughing and played the tune instrumentally.
Later Austrian songbird Angelika joined in singing some bossa novas. We had great fun all afternoon and time was flying. Now everybody hopes that there will be an autumn series of Jazz & Bossa at Sa Piscina. Lets wait and see, I keep you posted.
Y exactamente cuando yo cantaba las primeras líneas de Orpheo Negro, donde la letra dice: “El sol, si le llamo vendrá!” Comenzó a llover fuera, yo no podría cantar mas, riendo tanto, y tocaba la melodía instrumental.
Más tarde austriaca Angelika nos cantó algunas bossa novas. Nos divertimos mucho y el tiempo volaba, como dicen los ingleses. Ahora todo el mundo está esperando, que habrá una serie de otoño de Jazz y Bossa en Sa Piscina. Vamos a ver.

Next Saturday 11th of June will be the last “Jazz & Bossa” gig at Sa Piscina for this season. The public pool will soon be open and all the kids looking for a refreshing bath will also have their drinks and ice cream there.

El próximo sábado 11 de junio será la última “Jazz & Bossa” concierto en Sa Piscina para esta temporada. La piscina pública muy pronto será abierto y todos los niños en busca de un refrescante baño también tienen sus bebidas y helados allí.
